Building Critical Thinking Skills to Combat Fake News: Insights from the Lisbon Transnational Meeting

At the transnational meeting held in Lisbon on March 11th and 12th, partners of the project “Fighting Fake News and Enhancing Critical Thinking Skills for Business Opportunities of Unemployed Citizens” gathered to exchange research findings, agree on the curriculum development, and plan upcoming activities.

The first day focused on a presentation about the influence of fake news on business decisions, led by Jose, a partner from Portugal. The discussion emphasized the need to advance media literacy and critical thinking. It was concluded that developing a curriculum would enable individuals to navigate the digital information environment effectively and recognize misinformation.

Regarding curriculum development, tasks were divided among partner organizations. Pannonia Consulting and POU AMC Nova Gradiška will handle the general section, while Youth Power will develop training methods and engagement strategies. OLAE will compile the final part, focusing on case studies and practical examples. The curriculum is expected to be completed by early July.

In conclusion, the meeting reaffirmed the commitment of all partners to the project’s goal: to strengthen unemployed citizens’ ability to identify fake news and make informed decisions.
